PADM is an electronic control engine mount system installed on vehicles equipped with the Sports Chrono Package, officially known as the Porsche Active Drivetrain Mount.

The function of the engine mount is to absorb engine vibrations and avoid direct transmission to the vehicle body. The softer the bracket, the better the vibration absorption, and the more comfortable the ride, but at the same time, it will absorb some engine power, resulting in a decrease in response and handling.

On the contrary, the harder the bracket, the more responsive it is, but the ride comfort will decrease.

PADM utilizes electronic control technology to adjust the hardness of the bracket, balancing ride comfort and handling responsiveness.

Specifically, the system will continuously energize the magnetic material and dynamically adjust the hardness of the engine mount. Usually, it is automatically controlled based on parameters such as engine speed. When the vehicle turns, a bracket on the side with greater force will be added to enhance handling stability; In Sport Plus mode, the bracket hardness will be adjusted to the highest level to enhance the overall vehicle dynamic performance.

In fact, Porsche equipped with a sports timing kit will feel significantly tense when switching to Sport Plus mode, and the overall response becomes more sensitive, with PADM playing an important role in this feeling.

The price of Porsche Active Dynamic Mount (PADM) themselves is quite high, with a factory replacement costing $1600. Due to the fact that the left and right brackets are usually replaced together, the cost of parts is approximately $3200.
